Activity guide for this page

Recommended age: Ages 8–11
Estimated time: 45–70 min
Difficulty: Challenging
Areas to color: about 500

Coloring order

Color the airport rescue truck's big, tall body a bright yellow-green first, and use red-orange for the stripes on the side compartment doors.
Use gray and black for the long water cannon on the roof, the red warning lights and the many big wheels, and light blue for the windshield.
Last, color the arched hangar, the control tower, the small plane in the distance and the little blue lights on the ground in sky blue, gray and blue.

Questions to talk about

When do you think the long water cannon on the roof gets used?
What kind of airplane might be resting inside the hangar?
Have you ever flown in a plane or watched one pass overhead?

Take it further

Fold paper airplanes and fly them in a direction where nobody is standing. Change the wing shapes and find which one flies farther.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
