Coloring order

  1. Begin with the pickup's tall cab and the side of its bed, filling them in one sturdy color like green.
  2. Use deep gray for the horizontal-barred grille and big tires, and beige and brown for the dirt road and scattered pebbles.
  3. At the end, divide red, yellow and brown among the barn and windmill behind, the round hay bales and the wooden fence in front.

Questions to talk about

  • What cargo is in the truck bed, and which farm is it headed to?
  • How does the windmill turn when the wind blows?
  • Have you seen animals or grass on a farm or in the countryside? What did they look like?

Take it further

Fold a paper pinwheel and spin it with a puff of air or a fan. Watch how the speed changes when the wind is stronger.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
