Activity guide for this page
- Recommended age
- Ages 4–7
- Estimated time
- 10–20 min
- Difficulty
- Easy
- Areas to color
- about 11
Coloring order
- Begin with the long curving neck, the round body and the single standing leg, all in one pink.
- Alternate pink and soft orange along the rows of feathers on the folded wing so the colors blend gently.
- Finish the downward-bent beak, black only at the tip, and the thin long legs in a dark brown.
Questions to talk about
- How is the flamingo holding up its other leg?
- What might the flamingo be looking at with its long, curved neck?
- Have you ever stood on one foot? How long could you stay up?
Take it further
Stand on one foot near a wall and count slowly to ten, then switch feet. Talk about what it felt like when you wobbled.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
