Coloring order

  1. Start with Pico's small body and head in blue shades, then color the crown and beak on top yellow.
  2. In the fanned-out tail, color each eye pattern blue in the center and green outside, and keep the same color order in every row.
  3. Fill the small patterns along the outer edge and the grass beneath his feet in several greens and yellow, patiently, bit by bit.

Questions to talk about

  • How many rows of eye patterns can you find in Pico's tail?
  • Which country do you think this crowned peacock prince rules?
  • What is something you would love to show off?

Take it further

Fold a paper plate in half and open it, then glue overlapping paper circles around the edge to make a fan tail just like Pico's.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
