Coloring order

  1. Color Monoclast's huge body and limbs in stony grays, changing the shade a little from one rock piece to the next.
  2. Make the single big eye in the middle of the face blue and the cloth over the shoulder orange so they draw the eye.
  3. Finally, color the round belt buckle, the large open palm held out and the bare toes in pale gray and brown.

Questions to talk about

  • Monoclast is showing an open palm. What might it be offering?
  • If you had only one eye, how would the world look? Cover one eye and look around the room.
  • Have you seen a big rock? What might it feel like to touch?

Take it further

Collect small stones, line them up by size, and draw one big eye on a large one to make a Monoclast stone family.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
