Coloring order

  1. Start with the skirt: navy on both sides, and white or pale sky blue for the panel in the middle.
  2. Then color her thick hair flowing past her shoulders, the crescent-moon lantern in her hand and the glowing butterflies near her.
  3. Fill in the stream between the moonflowers, the observatory dome at upper right and the sparkles in the sky, then the full moon last in pale yellow.

Questions to talk about

  • Which star do you think the princess is searching for tonight?
  • What do you think is going on inside the observatory?
  • Do you remember a time you looked at the night sky for a long while?

Take it further

Dot a sheet of black paper with a white crayon, connect the dots into your own constellation, and give it a name and a story.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
