Coloring order
- Color the flat-topped mountain in the back in blue-gray and brown, and the bay in front from deep blue to light blue.
- Paint the waving boy's T-shirt with a different color in each yellow, red, blue and green piece, then his shorts and sneakers.
- Finish with the pink flowers he is holding, the flower bushes in front, the faraway city buildings and the clouds.
Questions to talk about
- The mountaintop is flat like a table. What might you see from up there?
- Who do you think the boy is bringing the big flowers to?
- Have you been somewhere with both mountains and sea? What did you play?
Take it further
Imagine standing on the flat mountaintop and draw the view from up there, then add speech bubbles or tell a friend about what you see.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
- Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
- Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
- Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
