Coloring order

  1. Color the big tree from the star at the top to the lowest branches, dividing it into layers with two or three greens.
  2. Spread red, gold and blue evenly across the round ornaments, stars and bows hanging on the tree.
  3. Finish with the two children's clothes, the gift boxes at their feet, and the church windows and pews behind them.

Questions to talk about

  • Which branch is each child hanging an ornament on?
  • Who should put the star on top, and how?
  • What do you decorate at home or church at Christmas?

Take it further

To prepare for the church Christmas tree decorating event, write names on paper stars and baubles. Assign top, middle and bottom branches and take turns hanging them.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
