Coloring order

  1. Color the hood, roof and doors of the drift coupe in one deep shade such as purple, and give the wide pieces added along the bottom a turquoise.
  2. Layer white and pale blue on the puffy smoke behind the car, and trace the round tire marks on the ground with gray lines.
  3. At the end, use a different color for each of the stacked tires and barriers up front and the far-off containers and cranes.

Questions to talk about

  • What does the white smoke behind the car look like to you?
  • Looking at the round marks on the ground, how did this car move?
  • Have you watched clouds or smoke change shape?

Take it further

Crumple cotton or tissue into smoke clouds and glue them on paper. In front, draw the round path of a toy car with a crayon.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
