- Challenging
- Areas to color
- about 270
Coloring order
- Start big with the muscle car's long, flat hood, roof and sides in one heavy color like deep blue.
- Color the two long vents side by side on the hood, the round headlights and the silvery bumper, then the yellow dashes on the road.
- At the end, use orange, green and brown for the red rock mesas far away, the tall cactus, the wooden fence and the roadside bushes.
Questions to talk about
- The cactus looks like it is waving. What would it say to a passing car?
- The road curves away into the distance. What might be waiting there?
- Have you ever really wanted something cool on a hot day? What did you drink?
Take it further
Draw a desert scene on the back of a box and stand it up. Cut green paper cacti, stick them on and make a long road for a toy car.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
