Coloring order
- Color the long body and tail in one light brown first, and use a slightly paler brown on the belly.
- Fill the shell resting on its tummy in two alternating pinks, following the lines that fan out.
- Lightly add pale blue to the ripples under the body. Do the whiskers, eyes and nose last, in a dark shade.
Questions to talk about
- What is the otter holding on its tummy? Where might it have found it?
- What sounds would you hear while floating on your back on the water?
- Have you ever floated while playing in water? What was it like?
Take it further
Fold paper into a fan to make a shell, set it on your tummy, lie on the floor, and pretend to float like the otter.
