Coloring order
- Instead of leaving the polar bear plain white, color it with a very pale sky blue to give it a soft, snowy look.
- Use dark colors for the pink pads on the waving paw, the eyes and the black nose so they stand out.
- Finish by lightly adding pale blue to the toes of the standing feet and the little fur lines.
Questions to talk about
- The polar bear stands up and raises a paw. Who is it calling?
- What colors might the polar bear's home be full of?
- Have you ever touched snow or ice? What did it feel like?
Take it further
Tear blue, light blue and white paper into pieces and glue them down as an icy floor, then stand the polar bear picture on top.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
