Coloring order
- Color the body, neck and folded legs a warm tan first, leaving the white chest and belly as they are.

- Finish the big upright ears pink inside, and the nose, eyes and hooves in a dark shade.
Questions to talk about
- The young deer is resting low on the ground. What might it be watching?
- With ears this big, what sound would you hear first?
- Have you ever sat quietly and watched the world around you?
Take it further
Stick white dots or paper circles onto brown paper to make a spotted deer body, then count the spots together.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
