Coloring order
- Use two light browns for Ollie's round body and wings, and give the round frames of his glasses a dark, clear outline.
- Make the open picture book on his lap a different color for the cover and pages, then color the branch and leaves he sits on.
- Cover the night sky in purple or navy first, then save yellow for the crescent moon and the stars.
Questions to talk about
- What story do you think is in the book Ollie is reading?
- Can you count how many stars are in the night sky?
- What book would you like to read before bedtime?
Take it further
Read one page of a favorite picture book aloud before bed, just like Ollie, then draw a quick sketch of that scene.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
