Coloring order
- Give Touki's huge beak stripes of yellow, orange, red and teal, a different color in each band, and color the body black.
- Use bright colors for the yellow chest, the ring around the eye and the cheek so they pop against the black body.
- Fill the red tropical flowers along the branch and the big leaves with several greens and reds at the very end.
Questions to talk about
- What could Touki pick up with that big beak?
- In what order do the colored stripes run along the beak?
- What other animals might live in a hot, leafy forest?
Take it further
Cut long strips of yellow, orange and red paper, layer them into a rainbow beak, and attach it to a headband to act like Touki.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
