Activity guide for this page

Recommended age: Ages 5–8
Estimated time: 25–40 min
Difficulty: Medium
Areas to color: about 100

Coloring order

Start with the big areas: the straw hat in light yellow, the overalls in blue and the tall boots in green.
Color each vegetable in the basket she hugs in a different color, like orange, green and red.
Finish with the watering can in her other hand, her braided hair and the plaid shirt.

Questions to talk about

What vegetables do you think are in Areum's basket today?
What happens in the field when you pour water from that watering can?
Which vegetable at the market or store has the shape you like best?

Take it further

Like Farmer Areum, plant a seed in a small cup of soil. Water it each day and draw how it changes.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

About this image

The black-and-white line art you print and color, with clear outlines and wide areas that suit younger children.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
