Coloring order

  1. Color the sloth's brown fur, the dark patches around its eyes and its long claws first, leaving the middle of the face a light cream.
  2. Alternate pink and light green bands on the hammock, then pick bold colors for the heart on the purple pillow and the picture book in its hands.
  3. Last, color the two tree trunks and leaves, the heart mug on the stump, the butterfly and the flowers at the bottom.

Questions to talk about

  • What kind of story do you think the sloth is reading?
  • The book shows a flower and a sun. What is in your favorite book?
  • Have you ever relaxed in a hammock or a cozy chair?

Take it further

Fold a sheet of paper in half to make a little picture book. Draw the sloth on the cover, then invent a title for the story it would read.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
