Coloring order
- Color the squirrel's brown fur and the cream belly and tail center first, then the red knitted hat and snowflake scarf.
- Use brown for the feeder's wooden roof and posts, leave the snow on the roof as plain paper, and fill the feeder and bucket with yellow seed dots.
- Last, do the two blue-and-yellow birds, the two pinecones, the snowy pine branches above and the red berries.
Questions to talk about
- What will the birds eat first at the feeder?
- Where do you think birds rest on a snowy winter day?
- What could you do for a small animal or bird?
Take it further
Make a bird feeder shape from colored paper and cardboard tubes, then decide what name and favorite song each visiting bird would have.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
