Activity guide for this page

Recommended age: Ages 5–8
Estimated time: 25–40 min
Difficulty: Medium
Areas to color: about 170

Coloring order

Start with Bella's flowery apron dress: try a blue skirt with a pink flowered apron laid over it so the two parts are easy to tell apart.
Then color her round brown hair buns, the little basket in her hand, and the rabbit and squirrel sitting beside her.
Last, add the round door and windows in the giant trunk, the winding stairs, the mushrooms on the ground and the butterflies.

Questions to talk about

Which room inside the big tree do you think Princess Bella lives in?
What might the rabbit and squirrel want to show Bella?
What would you hear if you walked quietly through a forest?

Take it further

Draw a door and windows on a cardboard tube or small box to make your own tree house, and decide which forest friend will live there.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
