Coloring order
- Color the plates on Kkobuki's shell from the middle outward, alternating brown and orange. The lines between plates will keep the colors neatly apart.
- Use green for the round spots on the head and flippers, then give the eye and the smiling mouth a dark color so the face stands out.
- Finish with the tall seaweed on the left, the small fish above, and the shells and coral along the bottom to fill the sea floor.
Questions to talk about
- What shapes can you find on Kkobuki's shell?
- Where do you think Kkobuki is swimming to right now?
- Have you ever walked in water? What did your body feel like?
Take it further
Draw a big round shell on paper, split it into sections, and fill each one with a different pattern to design your own turtle shell.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
