Coloring order
- Color the reindeer's tawny body and branching antlers first, then the cream face and belly and a dark nose tip.
- Color the tall Sweden map light blue from top to bottom, and match the small islands on the right in the same color.
- The scarf uses blue and yellow, the same two colors found on Sweden's flag, so alternate them stripe by stripe.
Questions to talk about
- What is the reindeer winter explorer looking for in the snow?
- Can you draw the branching shape of antlers in the air?
- How does it feel to wrap up in a scarf on a cold day?
Take it further
Glue blue and yellow paper bands in turn to make a striped scarf for your reindeer picture, then greet it in Swedish with hej.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
