Coloring order
- On the map of Egypt, color the large boxy land a sandy light brown or yellow.
- Color the triangle-like land jutting out at the upper right in the same color or a slightly deeper one to set it apart.
- Color the thin gap between the two lands and the small island on the right edge carefully with the tip of your pencil.
Questions to talk about
- What could the narrow gap between the big land and the triangle land be?
- If you went somewhere full of sand, what would you pack?
- Have you played in a sandbox or a playground sandpit?
Take it further
Glue a square and a triangle of paper together to make a shape like this land, then slip a thin blue paper strip into the gap between them.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
