- Ages 5–8
- Estimated time
- 10–20 min

- Medium
- Areas to color
- about 4
Coloring order
- On the map of India, color the big land that narrows to a point below orange like the flag above, working slowly from the wide top to the bottom tip.
- The thin part stretching up at the right is a narrow line, so hold your pencil upright and follow it carefully.
- Give the small island pieces set apart at the bottom a pop of the flag's green, and check at the end that no dots are missed.
Questions to talk about
- How does the land get narrower as it goes down?
- How would it feel to stand at the very pointed tip and look at the sea?
- Where have you seen things shaped like triangles?
Take it further
Fold or cut a paper triangle, set it with its point facing down, and find ways it looks like the shape of this land.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
- Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
- Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
- Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
- The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
