Coloring order

  1. Alternate two reddish browns brick by brick on the round stone wall of the well.
  2. Color Isaac's shirt and curly hair, holding the shovel; the little lamb drinking by the well can stay white if you like.
  3. Finish with the stream of water spilling from the well in light blue, then the sand hills behind and the tiny flowers on the ground.

Questions to talk about

  • What did Isaac say when the water bubbled up in the well?
  • What would the lamb say after a cool drink of water?
  • What have you done first to make up after an argument?

Take it further

Fill a tray with sand and draw a well with your finger. Then invent a story about the rules a village uses to share its water fairly with each other.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
