Coloring order

  1. Color the long, low lowrider's hood and doors turquoise first, and try cream for the roof and the lower side stripe.
  2. Use silver for the round headlights and the thick bumper, and color each wheel black outside with a white ring inside.
  3. Last, color the big sun, the rows of palm trees and the distant mountains in yellow, green and purple, and alternate colors on the paving stones.

Questions to talk about

  • Why might this car be rolling so slowly down the palm tree road?
  • Which animal does the car's long, rounded shape remind you of?
  • What do you do to stay cool on a really hot day?

Take it further

Cut long strips of paper into palm leaves and tape them up by a window. Imagine a street in a warm place and swap summer stories.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
