Coloring order

  1. Split the camper van into two colors: red or orange for the round front and side body, and cream for the lower band and around the roof.
  2. Color the pop-up roof tent and the awning stretched out on the left in pale yellow, and the folding chairs and table below in blue or green.
  3. Last, color the tall tree trunks with reddish-brown vertical stripes, and the stream and ferns on the right in blues and greens.

Questions to talk about

  • What would you like to eat sitting at the table under the awning?
  • What sounds might you hear in a forest with trees this tall and thick?
  • Have you ever slept under the night sky? What was it like?

Take it further

Stand cardboard tubes up like trees to build a forest campsite model, and make a van with a pop-up roof from a small box. Talk about tonight's plans.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
