Coloring order
- Color the woody wagon's curved body in one dark green first, and leave the wood-paneled side sections empty for now.
- Alternate light and dark brown on the wooden panels along the sides and doors, and use other colors for the roof rack and rolled-up blanket.
- Finally, color the log lodge on the left, the lakeside dock, and the little canoe and pine trees on the right in brown, blue and green.
Questions to talk about
- What did the family pack on the roof for a lake vacation?
- What is happening inside the lodge right now, and who is there?
- Have you ever ridden in a boat or played in a lake or the sea?
Take it further
Hold paper over a wooden desk or a pencil and rub with a crayon to collect wood-grain patterns. Cut them out and use them to decorate the wagon's sides.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
