Coloring order
- Color Chalang's round head and all eight curly arms in one warm yellow first, leaving the little dots on top of the head blank for now.
- Fill the head dots in blue one by one, then use dark colors and pink for the eyes and cheeks, and a soft shade for the tiny circles on the arms.
- Save the coral, the starfish, the little fish swimming nearby and the bubbles for last, and give each one a different color.
Questions to talk about
- How many arms does Chalang have? Can you count them one by one?
- What would Chalang like to grab with just one of its arms?
- If you had eight arms, what game would you play first?
Take it further
Draw eyes on a paper cup to make Chalang's head, then tape on eight paper strips for arms. Count the arms one by one as you play with your puppet.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
