Coloring order
- Color Mong's cozy body a broad gray-brown or beige, and add a touch of light pink on the cheeks.
- Use deep green for the seaweed bundle in its flipper, and purple for the little flowers, so they stand apart from the body.
- Color the tall seaweed around in several greens, and save the striped tropical fish, the little crab and the starfish below for last.
Questions to talk about
- After one bite of seaweed, what would Mong say it tastes like?
- Who do you think the seaweed Mong is holding is a gift for?
- What's your face like when you eat something you love?
Take it further
Cut long strips of green paper into seaweed and glue them in front of Mong, one strip at a time, until a whole seaweed forest grows.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
