Coloring order

  1. Color Leafy's long body and head in soft lime and turquoise, and fill the horizontal segments along the body one by one.
  2. Give each leaf-shaped frill on its body a different green or yellow, and try for a see-through look.
  3. Alternate green, brown and gold on the tall kelp forest on both sides, and save the shells at the bottom and the bubbles above for last.

Questions to talk about

  • How many leaf-shaped frills can you find on Leafy's body?
  • If Leafy hid in the kelp forest, would it be easy or hard to spot?
  • What did the leaves you saw in a forest or park look like?

Take it further

Look closely at leaves you've picked up on a walk, then cut leaf shapes of many kinds from paper and stick them around your Leafy picture.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
