Coloring order
- Start with Lumi's plump navy body, leaving the whites of the eyes and the smiling mouth uncolored so they pop.
- Make the round lantern at the end of the long line on its head the brightest yellow, and color the fins light green.
- Last, color the coral and the star sparkles below in purple, pink and teal so they glow in the dark sea.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think Lumi's lantern is lighting up in the dark?
- What might Lumi do if its lantern went out?
- Has a tiny light ever made a dark night feel better for you?
Take it further
With a grown-up, dim the room and use a flashlight as Lumi's lantern. Shine it on the wall and take turns saying what you see.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
