Coloring order
- Blend light blue and pink over Pongpong's leaping body to keep it soft, and leave the belly light.
- Alternate sky blue and turquoise on the splashes and waves under the dolphin so the water looks cool.
- Save the sun and clouds up top, plus the little fish and starfish below, for last. Don't forget the rays reaching out from the sun.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think Pongpong saw when it jumped so high above the water?
- How would you say the sound of a wave crashing in words?
- Do you remember playing by the water on a sunny day?
Take it further
Cut out your colored dolphin, tape it to a stick, and put on a short puppet show with Pongpong leaping through waves of blue paper.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
