Coloring order
- Color Byeol's five-pointed body in one orange or peach shade all at once, then dot the round spots on top in a slightly deeper color.
- Paint the shell it's hugging light pink, and leave the round pearl inside white so it looks like it's shining.
- Finish with pale yellow for the sandy beach below, and sky blue and pink for the wave lines behind and the coral at the lower right.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think is hiding inside the shell Byeol is hugging?
- Looking at Byeol's face, how do you think it feels right now?
- What would you like to look for on a sandy beach?
Take it further
Tear yellow paper into small bits and glue them down for a sandy beach, then set a cut-out star on top to build Byeol's seaside scene.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
