Coloring order
- Color the darkest band, the one on the left, black first, keeping your strokes straight from top to bottom.

- Color the right band red, then compare by eye whether all three bands are the same width.
Questions to talk about
- What things come to mind when black, yellow and red sit side by side?
- Which of the three colors catches your eye first?
- If three friends wore different colors and stood in a row, what flag would they make?
Take it further
Have three family members or friends each hold black, yellow or red paper and stand in a row to make a people flag, then swap places and talk about what changes.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
