Coloring order

Color the four blue boxes the cross divides the flag into. The two on the left are small and the two on the right are longer.
Color the yellow cross, both the upright band and the sideways band, and fill the square where they cross.
When you finish, notice whether the upright band sits left of the middle, and tidy up anywhere the color spilled.

Are all the blue boxes the cross makes the same size?
If a tiny person walked along the yellow road, where would they go?
Can you find something shaped like a cross at home?

Take it further

Glue a yellow paper cross onto blue paper, then compare how it feels with the upright band in the middle and with it moved left.
