Coloring order

Color the thickest band in the very middle a deep blue, and compare by eye how much wider it is than the others.
Color the top and bottom bands the same red, and leave the two thin bands right next to the blue band white.
Check that the colors read the same going down as going up, like a mirror, and tidy up any gaps at the end.

Which one of the five bands is the thickest?
How are the colors at the top and the bottom alike?
Have you seen something with two matching sides, like a butterfly's wings?

Take it further

Color a thick blue band across the middle of a sheet, then glue white and red strips above and below in the same order to make a mirror-image flag.
