Coloring order

Color the whole rectangle red, leaving the white crescent and star empty and going around their curves carefully.
Color close to the crescent's inner and outer curves with the tip of your pencil standing up, then lay it flat to fill the wide parts.
Color the narrow gaps between the star's five points first, and when you finish, notice which way the crescent opens.

Which direction does the opening of the crescent face?
What do you think the star is doing next to the moon?
Have you noticed the moon changing shape from night to night?

Take it further

Cut several moon shapes from yellow paper, glue them onto black paper, and line them up from a thin crescent to a full moon.
