Coloring order
- Color the tall, pointed peak behind in dark green and gray-brown, using the two colors to separate the folds along the ridge.
- Paint the stepped grassy terraces below in light green, and the stone house walls lined up between them in gray and beige.
- Last, color each small square room and stone gap, and the rocks in front, so neighboring spaces get different colors.
Questions to talk about
- How might people have built a stone town high up on a mountain?
- If you lived in one of these stone houses, what would you do first in the morning?
- Have you ever climbed a mountain? What did you see from the top?
Take it further
Stack blocks or small boxes in steps to build a mountain village, then take turns adding one sentence each to tell the story of who lives there.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
