Coloring order
- Start with the Statue of Liberty's long flowing robe and body in blue-green, then shade the folds a little darker so they stand out.
- Color the torch raised high in yellow and orange, and paint the pointed rays of the crown a lighter green than the body.
- Finish the square pedestal in stone gray, including the row of columns near its top and the wide stone base at the bottom.
Questions to talk about
- In one hand she holds a torch and in the other a thick tablet. What might be on it?
- If the statue could talk to the ships sailing by, what would she say?
- What is the tallest or most eye-catching building near where you live?
Take it further
Wrap a cardboard tube in green paper for the body, add a paper crown and a yellow paper torch, and stand your statue on a box pedestal.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
