Coloring order
- On the map of Canada, color the widest land red like the flag above, going over the complicated edges with a sharp pencil first.
- Color the big and small islands clustered at the top the same red, leaving the empty gaps between them blank.
- Color the little pieces scattered along the lower left and right edges last, one by one.
Questions to talk about
- How close together are the islands at the top, and how near the main land?
- If it snowed a great deal in a place, what kind of clothes would you need?
- Have you played outside on a snowy day? What did you do?
Take it further
After coloring the map red, draw snowflakes on it with a white pencil or white crayon to make a snowing map.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
