Coloring order
- On the map of Spain, color the big, boxy land yellow like the flag above, tracing the wiggly lines at the upper left corner too.
- Color the little island pieces floating in the sea on the right red instead of yellow, so they stand out from the mainland.
- When you finish, think of the flag's red bands and go around the land's edge once more with a red pencil to make a border.
Questions to talk about
- How many pieces of island are floating in the sea to the right?
- What colors of clothes would people living in a yellow land like to wear?
- Have you played on a day when the sun was strong and hot?
Take it further
Shape this land from wet sand or clay, then place two small pebble-like bits on the right as islands. Wash your hands well afterward.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
- Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
