Coloring order
- Color the Beetle's round roof and rounded front fenders in one sky blue first, smooth and even.
- Then try silver for the round headlights and bumper, and cream around the wheels.
- Last, add the pink and red flowers climbing the wall, the lamp by the stairs and the tiny sailboats on the sea, starting with the small spaces.
Questions to talk about
- Why do you think the Beetle is shaped so round?
- Where might those stairs by the sea lead?
- Have you ever been to the seaside? What do you remember most?
Take it further
Fold a paper plate in half to make a round Beetle roof, glue on paper wheels, and stand it on a street you draw on your desk.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
