Coloring order
- Color the striped chipmunk's brown body, bold back stripes and cream face first, and choose one bright color for the red wheelbarrow.
- Use yellow for the corn in the barrow and the kernels on the stalks, and alternate light and dark green on the overlapping leaves.
- Last, do the narrowing path, the big pumpkin, the drifting leaves and the golden tops of the stalks to give the maze depth.
Questions to talk about
- Which path would the chipmunk like to take through the corn maze?
- Who is the chipmunk bringing that corn to?
- What should you do if you ever get lost? Let's talk about it.
Take it further
Draw winding lines on a sheet of paper to make a paper maze, then swap with a friend and trace the way out with a finger. Draw a corn cob at the exit.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
