Coloring order

  1. Color Lumirin's swirling mane and tail in pink, mint and pale yellow, a different color for each strand.
  2. Use pale mint for the overlapping fish-scale pattern on the body, and leave the cream face and legs almost white.
  3. Last, color the branching horns on the head and all four hooves, including the raised one, in gold or deep yellow.

Questions to talk about

  • Lumirin has one hoof raised. Where is it about to step?
  • Under what color of sky would that cloud-like mane float?
  • Which three pastel colors would you pick as favorites?

Take it further

Draw overlapping round swirls with pastel pencils to make a cloud-like mane strip, and stick it beside your Lumirin picture.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
