Activity guide for this page

Recommended age: Ages 8–11
Estimated time: 20–30 min
Difficulty: Challenging
Areas to color: about 30

Coloring order

Color the two big areas first, green and red. The dividing line sits left of the middle, so the green part is narrower.
Color the outer ring of the round emblem on the dividing line yellow, and split the shield in the middle between white and red.
Save the little blue dots inside the shield and the fine lines around it for last, using a sharp pencil one dot at a time.

Questions to talk about

Is the line where green meets red exactly in the middle?
What treasure might be hidden inside the shield in the round frame?
Have you seen something made of several round rings stacked together?

Take it further

Draw a big circle with smaller circles inside it on a paper plate, then put a shield in the middle to make your own round emblem.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
