Coloring order
- Start with the white sail-shaped roof shells of the Sydney Opera House, keeping them white with just light gray shadows.
- Color the glass wall at the front in blue and teal, alternating the two colors square by square along the window frames.
- Last, color the wide base that holds the building up in light brown, and the rounded edge line around it.
Questions to talk about
- What does this roof remind you of: a ship's sail, a seashell or something else?
- What kind of show would you like to see inside this building?
- If you stepped onto a stage, would you sing, dance or do something else?
Take it further
Cut paper half-circles in different sizes and stand them overlapping to make white roof shells, then put on a song or dance show in front.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
