Coloring order

  1. Color the wide plank floor of the bridge in sandy yellow-brown and light brown, and run the railings on both sides in gold.
  2. On the left, paint the giant stone hands holding up the bridge in gray mixed with light green, and give each finger its own shade.
  3. Finally, color the cone-shaped hat, the long yellow dress, the pink lotus in her hand, and the green hills and clouds behind her.

Questions to talk about

  • The bridge rests on huge stone hands. Whose hands might they be?
  • What do you think is waiting at the far end of the bridge?
  • Have you ever waved hello to someone you were glad to see? Who was it?

Take it further

Roll long strips of newspaper into railings, cut paper hands to hold them up, and let a small toy walk across your mini bridge.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
