- Ages 5–8
- Estimated time
- 30–45 min
- Difficulty
- Medium
- Areas to color
- about 230
Coloring order
- Color the bear cub's brown fur and the lighter muzzle first, then use separate colors for the red scarf and the basket of acorns.
- Make the three big mushrooms red, keeping the round spots and stems cream, and give the little snail a light-blue shell.
- Last, do the ferns on both sides, the leaves and two acorns on the ground, the pebbles and the autumn branch at the top.
Questions to talk about
- What is the bear looking at most closely through the magnifying glass?
- What would the snail say to the bear from under the mushroom?
- What would you like to look at closely with a magnifier outdoors?
Take it further
Look through a cardboard tube at one small object in the room for a long time, then draw it. In the woods, just look at mushrooms: no touching or tasting.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
