Coloring order

  1. Color the long wall of Schonbrunn Palace bright yellow first, and split the lawn below into light green and deep green.
  2. Color the child's green hat and vest, brown shorts, white socks and boots one at a time, with both arms stretched wide.
  3. Finish with the feather in the hat, the two round bushes at the sides, the path down the middle and the palace windows.

Questions to talk about

  • With both arms open wide, what do you think the child is saying to us?
  • If you opened one of the palace windows, what kind of room would you find?
  • Do you remember running around in a big garden?

Take it further

Crumple green paper into round balls like the bushes in the picture and glue them on a sheet. Draw a path in between to make a small palace garden.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
