Coloring order

  1. Start with the pointed-roof houses lined up along the water, giving each house its own color from red, orange, yellow or green.
  2. Color the mountain behind them blue-gray and green and the water in front blue, then add the houses' colors reflected in the water.
  3. Last, color the girl's yellow braids, red vest, blue skirt and white apron one at a time as she spreads her arms wide.

Questions to talk about

  • What is nice about each house being a different color?
  • How are the houses in the water different from the real houses?
  • What color stands out the most in front of your home?

Take it further

Cut several paper rectangles and give each a pointed roof to make houses. Glue them in a row to build your own colorful wharf.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
